Shelley was the sweet and shy new girl back in my 7th grade English homeroom class. I can honestly say that she hasn't changed one bit! Apparently neither have I as I was already taking photos with my 35mm point and shoot camera back in those days for the yearbook! I was honoured when Shelley contacted me to photograph her wedding to her love of 10 years Tony.
What an amazing day it was in late October of last year. In true Shelley fashion, no detail was overlooked. It was an absolute visual feast for a photographer and her camera!
 |
| Shelley collaborated with The Paper Studio to design her wedding invitations. Her beautiful bridal bouquet, by Ottawa Flowers, was wrapped in her mother's veil and pinned with her grandmother's broach! Shelley's customized wedding dress hanger was created by Lila Frances. |
 |
| Super savvy Shelley got her Calvin Klein's for a steal from Piperlime and personalized them with detailing from Michael's! |
 |
| Shelley's dad Doug is such a delightful man! Here he is helping his girl into her shoes à la Cinderella. The bride's lovely locks were styled by Mark Mignault, and her pretty natural look was created by MAC Make-up artists. For a little added glitter, Shelley wore a bracelet and earrings by Swarovski. BFF and Maid of Honour Kelly places the bridal veil. |
|
 |
| Shelley's beautiful gown and veil, both by designer Paloma Blanca, were purchased from Sinders in Carlteon Place. The girls requested a shot on the stairs to relive a traditional shot from sleepovers past. |
 |
| A proud papa escorting the bride from her childhood home. And another quick shot of the girls before heading downtown to meet the boys in their chariot by Greg Young Limousines |
 |
| With their ceremony scheduled for the evening, Shelley and Tony opted to have their wedding photos taken in the afternoon to work around the shortened days of fall. We arranged for the couple to have a quiet 'First Look' so that Tony could see her for the first time all by himself. It was so sweet to watch Shelley approach her groom who's back was turned... a moment full of excitement and emotion. |
 |
| That's one good lookin' bridal party! The girls wore dresses by Ann Taylor and necklaces from Etsy while the boys sported suites from Moore's |
 |
| How striking is Shelley all in white with her girls so chic all in black?! I had been forewarned that Tony is more than a little bit camera shy, but I think we did pretty well! |
 |
| We brought the party inside to keep warm and had the family join in for the fun! How adorable is Tony's niece?! |
 |
| A bit of quiet time before the ceremony |
The sweetest and most revealing moment of the day for me came about
while we were taking portraits of the couple, just the two of them. As
the nerves of their pending ceremony started to kick in for the shy
Shelley, Tony in a very gentle and reassuring manner whispered words to
his bride that almost immediately seemed to put her mind at ease. That's the
true testament of a couple who already have some years of history
together, who know each other so well that in an instant they can wipe
away each others' fears with only a few words of comfort. It was really
quite touching to witness and I came to understand right there and then
what makes Shelley and Tony such a great couple.
I am so pleased to
see that my old friend has found a great partner in life and that Shelley is in good hands! Thank you so much to you both for entrusting me to capture your special day! Can't wait to see what the future has in store for you guys!
Stayed tuned for Part 2 of this très chic affair that was flawlessly orchestrated by the ever talented Julie from
Kim xo
